About The Position

Works under the supervision of the Nurse Manager or designee to develop and provide quality and therapeutic recreation services for the residents. Maintains space, equipment, and supplies for the provision of recreation therapy services. Actively performs as a member of an interdisciplinary team and demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide interventions in the geriatric population. Assists with management of volunteers, to include recruitment and retention.

Requirements

  • 1 year Recreation Program experience working with a geriatric population (Required)
  • Certified Auto External Defibrillator (AED) - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) within 30 Days(Required)
  • First Aid - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) within 30 Days(Required)
  • Operates company vehicles as essential function of the job
  • Valid Drivers License Required

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors Degree, Recreation Therapy or related field (Preferred)
  • Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) - National Council for Therapuetic Recreation Certification (NCTRC) (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Schedules and/or conducts quality therapeutic recreation activities that contribute to a vibrant quality of life for residents.
  • Works to recruit and retain volunteers to achieve additional recreation activities.
  • Oversees recreation areas and assigned departments/staff for resident services.
  • Ensures proper maintenance, adequate equipment and supplies for these areas to ensure compliance with facility policies and to ensure that needed equipment and materials are available. These responsibilities also include some accounting based on department type such as bookkeeping or tracking changes.
  • Collaborates with the physician to provide for the therapeutic needs of our residents and customers.
  • Performs administrative duties so that all filing and updating are completed accurately.
  • Performs charting as needed, , files all general information of activity participation of the residents, and organizes all general information of onsite and off site programs.
