Requirements

Knowledge of event and festival management principles.
Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to supervise staff and volunteers effectively.
Proficiency in budgeting, contract management, and modern office software.
Ability to work in both office and outdoor environments, including evenings and weekends as needed.
Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Event Management, Hospitality, Tourism, or related field.
At least one year of experience in event planning or a similar role.
Valid Missouri driver's license or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

Plan, develop, and implement city festivals and tourism-related events, ensuring smooth execution and exceptional guest experiences.
Recruit and coordinate vendors, entertainers, speakers, and service providers.
Manage event logistics in collaboration with internal departments and volunteers.
Serve as Manager on Duty for multi-day events.
Prepare and monitor event budgets, contracts, and vendor applications.
Supervise part-time staff and volunteers during event setup and execution.
Coordinate food vendors, site layouts, and operational logistics for major events such as Heritage & Freedom Fest and Celebration of Lights .
Oversee entertainment bookings and programming for city events.
Maintain accurate records, reports, and evaluations for all events.
