About The Position

Performs administrative and supervisory duties developing, coordinating, and managing large year-round special events for Countywide participation, as well as for partnerships and sponsorships with external organizations to support and enhance specialized recreation program delivery. Plans, coordinates, manages, develops, promotes, and budgets festivals and events in compliance with Department, County, and industry standards. Responsibilities may include extensive research, relationship-building, oversight, and fundraising. Recommends new hires and terminations; conducts and signs disciplinary actions. Work is reviewed by the Recreation Program Coordinator through conferences, reports, and results obtained.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Recreation, Therapeutic Recreation, Health and Physical Education, or related field; minimum of three (3) years of experience organizing and directing recreational activities.
  • Unrelated Bachelor's Degree and four (4) years of experience organizing and directing recreational activities
  • Related Associate's Degree and five (5) years of experience organizing and directing recreational activities
  • Unrelated Associate's Degree and six (6) years of experience organizing and directing recreational activities
  • Graduation from high school/equivalent recognized certification and seven (7) years of experience organizing and directing recreational activities.
  • Must obtain First Aid/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Certification within six (6) months of hire.
  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds.
  • Valid Florida Driver's License and PBC Risk Management Department driving history approval prior to appointment.
