About The Position

The Boulder Ranger District is seeking a skilled, highly motivated technician to
assist with administrative duties of recreation special use permits. Permits
include outfitting and guiding, recreation events, recreation residences,
organizational camps, shelters etc. This is a dynamic position in a busy urban
forest unit. The position will have the opportunity to learn a variety of
skillsets related to management of recreational resources.

Requirements

• Valid Driver’s License
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience making public contacts
• Ability to work independently or with a team
• Comfortable working and hiking in an outdoor setting/wilderness
• Passion for the environment and working outdoors
• Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Ability to learn Forest Service policy and procedures
• Organizational Skills
• All participants must be between the ages of 16 and 30, inclusive, or veterans age 35 or younger.
• Participants must also be a citizen or national of the United States or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States.

• Monitoring recreation events, recreation residences, commercial outfitting and guiding operations
• Assist the trails and wilderness program with outdoor field work
• Assist with any other recreation department needs
• Management of online data
• Assisting other programs such as Developed Recreation, Off-Highway Vehicle, Trails, and Wilderness as needed

Benefits

• Living Allowance – $600/week
• One-time Travel Allowance – $1,100
