About The Position

Assist rangers during vehicle and boat patrols, and perform facility inspections in the parks, campgrounds and boat ramps located on the project. Light maintenance tasks may be required to make repairs in recreation areas. Other duties may include updating bulletin boards, working on interpretive displays, stocking and distributing informative material in information centers, staffing information centers in times of high visitation, and providing interpretive talks. Interns will provide interpretative assistance in the implementation of the Corps’ Water Safety Program by presenting water safety programs at schools, parks, special events, and providing guided dam tours.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old on start date.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have the ability to effectively speak, read, and write in English.
  • Must have the ability to work outdoors and lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Must wear SCA provided attire while on duty.

  • Recreation related experience or education
  • Operate GIS platform
  • Customer Service experience

Responsibilities

  • Daily tasks will include interacting with visitors, interpretation, and telling the Corps story.
  • Data collection and inputting into government operated systems.
  • Patrolling Corps operated parks and campgrounds to complete facility inspections. Site will provide vehicles for on-site transportation providing student has completed defensive driving training that will be provided.
