Recreation Leader III - Summer Camp Site Supervisor

About The Position

To assist with the organization, planning, and facilitation of a variety of recreation activities in various seasonal programs. To provide excellent customer service to all program patrons by exemplifying a positive attitude and exceeding the needs of patrons. Work hours will vary, up to 79 hours per month.

Requirements

  • Childcare: 1 year (preferred)
  • High school diploma or comparable experience.
  • Working knowledge of recreation programs, services, and appropriate activities for youth; strong interest in working with youth.
  • Interact effectively and professionally with a wide variety of program participants, community members, and co-workers.
  • Must be creative, energetic, and patient.
  • Knowledge of basic needs and safety concerns associated with the care of children.
  • Experience, education, and/or training that would provide the required knowledge and abilities to meet the needs of the program.
  • Interpret and apply policies and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Communicates clearly, both verbally and in writing.
  • Valid Washington driver’s license (required).

Nice To Haves

  • CPR Certification (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • May include but are not limited to the following programs: youth or adult sports leagues, programs, camps and clinics, and special events.
  • Assist the Recreation Coordinator with the planning, coordination and supervision of youth or adult sports leagues, programs, camps and clinics, and special events.
  • Assist with supervision of program participants as necessary to meet the needs of the activity, event, or program.
  • Act as the site supervisor in the absence of the Recreation Coordinator or Recreation Specialist.
  • Assist with training and coaching of Recreation Leader I and Recreation Leader II staff.
  • Provide leadership and direction to on-site staff to ensure program quality and safety.
  • Monitor and ensure program policies, procedures, and safety guidelines are being followed.
  • Address and resolve participant, parent, and staff concerns as needed.
  • Support and provide input on program improvements, schedules, and operational needs.
  • Communicate feedback between participants and program supervisor.
  • May be assigned to drive participants to programming in District vehicles.
  • Prepare documents such as letters, program evaluation forms, memos, accident reports, and rosters.
  • Utilize software system to process program registrations and update client accounts.
  • Attend meetings and training as assigned.
  • Be actively involved with program participants and always engage in activities.
  • Perform facility opening and closing responsibilities.
  • Perform minor custodial duties as needed.
  • Perform minor maintenance and custodial duties.
  • Assist with other recreation programs as requested.
  • Perform related duties, as assigned.
