Position Overview: The Recreation Coordinator plans and leads recreational and social activities that support wellness, skill-building, and social connection for clients. This role collaborates with program staff to create engaging, inclusive experiences while maintaining schedules, transportation, and activity budgets.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Experience working with individuals with mental illness preferred
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to independently plan and run group activities
  • Must pass the required background check and remain eligible to provide services as defined by the Minnesota Department of Human Services.
  • Must pass the screening required by Federal Human Services Office of Inspector General to assure that person has not been excluded from working in the Health Care Programs which receive federal funding.
  • Must have access to a reliable vehicle and maintain a valid driver’s license and insurance

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in human services, Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, or related field
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working with adults with mental health challenges

Responsibilities

  • Plan and lead weekly recreational and social activities, including fitness, creative arts, outings, and life-skill–building events.
  • Support clients in building confidence, routine, and meaningful social connections.
  • Collaborate with RTI staff to ensure person-centered, inclusive programming.
  • Manage transportation, activity schedules, and budgets.
  • Maintain accurate documentation related to programs and client participation.
