About The Position

The Recreation Aide is under general supervision and acts as the recreation facility representative and serves as front line contact for enforcement of City policies during scheduled rentals, special events, concessions and functions within facilities. Provides outstanding customer service to all patrons as well as answering the phone, receiving monies for admissions, selling passes, completing program registrations, processing memberships, general filing, cleaning, and other duties as assigned. The Recreation Aide III is the most advanced level in the Recreation Aide series. This role assists in daily operations by planning, coordinating, scheduling, and implementing recreation and senior programs and activities for all abilities in one or more programming disciplines. It involves driving participants to and from day trip outings, aiding in the serving of Senior Lunch, and performing administrative duties such as maintaining attendance records and organizing program materials and resources. The specialist prepares reports to document accidents and incidents, inputs event data into registration and facility software, coordinates with outside agencies on specific programs, creates and distributes promotional brochures and information for special events, responds to rental inquiries, conducts facility tours, and assists with processing facility rental agreements and program budgets.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Colorado Driver’s License or ability to obtain within six months of hire.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain First Aid/CPR/AED certification within six months of hire.
  • Three years of experience in recreation or related field.
  • Two years of experience in customer service and experience in cash handling.

Responsibilities

  • Answer the phone, receive monies for admissions, sell passes, complete program registrations, process memberships, general filing, and cleaning.

  • Assist with the implementation of community-wide special events as assigned.
  • Assist with rentals coverage when paired with another Recreation Aide.
  • Responsible for opening and closing City facilities for recreation and rental use.
  • Complete a variety of paperwork including daily records, logs, and accident/incident reports.
  • Maintain and clean front desk area, gymnasium, game room, cardio weight room, and locker rooms.
  • Assist with setup/take down of tables, chairs, and equipment for classes, programs, sports activities, and special events.
  • Write quality records, reports, and receipts for all admissions, rentals, and registrations.
  • Greet guests in-person and over the phone, accept and process memberships, and registrations for specific activities.
  • Handle all cash and credit card charges per standard operating procedures.
  • Perform frequent walkthroughs of the facility to provide safety and security to all staff and visitors.
  • Serve food promptly and accurately in a fast-paced environment.
  • Stock and restock items, as necessary.
  • Comply with food-handling and sanitation regulations.
  • Consistently follow all revenue control procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Assist full-time staff in planning, implementing, supervising, evaluating and promoting various recreation activities.
  • Assist with interviewing and training staff.
  • Operate and train on recreation software, systems and policies.
  • Serve as manager on duty when assigned.
  • Serve as supervisor of concession areas when assigned.
  • Serve as camp counselor when needed.
  • Assist in the hiring, training, and scheduling of concession team members.
  • Assist with concession events and ensure that the stand is stocked and staffed.
  • Assist in inventory management and control activities.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the concession stand.
  • Maintain safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures.
  • Follow and enforce federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Assist with setting up special classes or rentals and be the contact person for all concerns and questions during those events.
  • Enforce capacity limits for rentals and events.
  • Aid front desk, maintenance, custodial, athletics, and full-time staff as needed.
  • Recognize safety hazards and sanitation issues.
  • Operate all assigned tools, safety products, and kitchen equipment.
  • Set up and tear down equipment for scheduled activities and special events.
  • Plan, coordinate, schedule, and implement recreation and senior programs and activities for all abilities in one or more programming disciplines.
  • Drive participants to and from day trip outings.
  • Aid in the serving of Senior Lunch.
  • Perform administrative duties such as maintaining attendance records and organizing program materials and resources.

  • Assist with processing facility rental agreements for the Evans Community Complex and Riverside Library & Cultural Center.
  • Assist with programs budgets.
  • Interpret, understand and comply with regulations, standards, procedures and laws applicable to the areas of assignment.
  • Plan, promote, organize, develop and implement a variety of recreation programs and rentals.
  • Supervise, direct, and train employees.
  • Perform duties independently.
