About The Position

The Recreation-Activity Therapist involves adjunctive leadership of groups and activities across the spectrum of behavioral healthcare (Inpatient, Residential, Group Home), promoting mental health, wellness, recovery, and development of strengths. Adjunctive therapy is used alongside primary therapy to enhance its effectiveness and improve overall outcomes. Full-time, Tuesday through Saturday (Shift will include Weekdays, Evenings, and Weekends) Hill Crest Behavioral Health is an acute care, 194 bed inpatient psychiatric facility located in Birmingham, AL, providing mental health services for adolescents and adults. We do not treat medically compromised individuals beyond our scope of care. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Recreational Therapy, Exercise Sciences, Social Services, related area required.
  • Minimum of (3) year’s recent recreation/ acitivity therapy expertise in an in-patient environment highly preferred
  • Must complete and maintain training in CPR and Handle With Care Training
  • Aggression management, crisis intervention, and restraint training.
  • Training may be obtained during first week of employment during new hire orientation.
  • MUST HAVE availability to attend an 8- business day Orientation from 8a-4p without interruptions.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree preferred.
  • Current CTRS preferred
