This role will guide the exploration of recovery crisis planning and development of a personal safety plan or even a Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP). Living Rooms embrace the Recovery Model and offer people experiencing mental health crises a calm and safe environment. The community outpatient centers are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and people receive care immediately. The Living Room will eventually operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week as well.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree preferred from an accredited college or university in social work, psychology or a related discipline and/or A Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) or Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) certification or ability to complete course work and able to obtain certification within 12 months of hire.
  • Applicant must have a valid IL Driver’s License, valid auto insurance, and access to a well maintained/insured vehicle
  • Full-time, Hourly, Non-exempt, 37.5 hours per week
  • Must be prepared to work a flexible schedule in response to the needs of the target population served, including evening and/or weekend hours.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred 1-2 of years experience working with individuals recovering from serious and persistent mental illness providing case management and community support and/or
  • Preferred 1-2 years experience working in non-traditional community settings i.e.: Drop in, senior center, special recreation program
  • Basic computer proficiency, knowledge of Word and Internet skills

Responsibilities

  • Engage and orient the client to the Living Room.
  • Engage with local First Responders to assist in providing a warm hand off of clients.
  • Assist peer support supervisor to plan and implement activities.
  • Responsible for facility set-up and maintenance.
  • Responsible for travel assistance and transportation.
  • Provide supportive peer counseling utilizing personal lived experience to establish a warm and empathic connection with clients and as needed, their families/significant others.
  • Promote opportunities for clients to develop a personal safety plan.
  • Assist in the development of personal Wellness Recovery Action Plans.
  • Regularly consult with other Adult Outpatient Behavioral Health Team members to address specific client issues and coordinate care strategies.
  • Support safety of clients and assist with important service linkages to resources desired by clients.
  • Assist in training center staff.
  • Assist in development and maintenance of local community resources and groups (NAMI, AA etc.), recovery literature, on-line materials/websites to support clients.
  • Participate in supervision as directed.
  • Participate in team and other agency meetings and trainings as directed by supervisor.
  • Interpret and communicate, at the service delivery level, Living Room policies and procedures.
