The primary responsibility of a Recovery Coach is to support the voices and choices of the people they help, removing obstacles to recovery and linking residents to a recovery community, and serve as a personal guide and mentor. Responsible for recovery support services at the treatment center, transitional housing, and other behavioral health settings serving as a motivator, recovery resource guide, mentor, and liaison to residents and their families. The Recovery Coach is knowledgeable about the nature of chemical dependency, particularly in the context of Native Americans in order to provide effective and culturally appropriate chemical dependency services to individuals and their families. The Recovery Coach assesses the resident’s needs, plans and links them to appropriate services, advocates for and monitors case requirements to ensure the delivery of comprehensive services. Coordinates and provides services in an integrated Individualized Recovery Plan (IRP). Ongoing interaction with individuals who have been diagnosed with severe and chronic mental illness and substance abuse disorder.
