Open Sky Community Services, in collaboration with the Department of Corrections, is excited to announce a first of its kind program in the state of Massachusetts, The Community Compass Program. This program will support the re-entry of returning citizens who have been recently released from the DOC and other individuals who have a history of Justice System Involvement. Community Compass is community-driven and fosters active community involvement, and engagement. The program offers a safe, judgement free, resource rich environment that breaks down barriers to reintegration while providing access to essential, customized resources, and supports a mission to invest in each individual’s success. The scope of services includes outreach and engagement, food and nutrition assistance, educational and job placement services, housing assistance as well as healthcare and addiction treatment. The Recovery Coach uses lived experience with addiction and/or co-occurring mental health disorders to provide peer-level support and understanding to individuals served as they pursue their own personal path to recovery. They develop a relationship that is non-clinical in nature and is focused on overcoming barriers to recovery while linking members to recovery pathways and supports. Recovery Coaches will work with individuals to develop and implement a Wellness Plan, which consists of personal recovery goals that are identified using a strength-based, self-directed recovery and a wellness planning process. They also work closely with individuals to assist in the development of valued community roles such as group memberships, employment, or volunteer experiences.
