About The Position

Founded as part of the Odyssey Eating Disorder Network. Aster Springs is unique in our ability to work with our clinicians, leaders, and experts nationally to ensure the care provided at Aster Springs is evidence-based and industry leading within our state-of-the-art facility. Our Aster Springs Nashville location provides residential and outpatient eating disorder treatment in a safe and serene environment to heal. Located just minutes away from downtown Music City, our multidisciplinary treatment team provides tailored treatment plans designed to meet the unique needs of each client. Recovery Care Specialists works directly with clients throughout the day/night to provide emotional support, encouragement, empathy, and care. The RCS eat with clients, attend group with clients, process events/emotions with clients, and provide general structure to help clients refrain from eating disorder thoughts and behaviors.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree (mental health/social work field preferred)
  • Active First Aid/CPR/AED certification (American Red Cross/American Heart Association)
  • Documented proof of MMR and HEP B vaccinations
  • Valid Drivers License
  • Successful completion of Criminal Background Check through DBHDS, Background Investigation Unit, and VDSS Registry Searches.

Responsibilities

  • Correctly facilitate necessary shift communication with supervisor
  • Participate in on-call rotation for RCS position
  • Attend/incorporate training of de-escalation, grounding, processing, flashbacks, and other eating disorder associated issues into job performance.
  • Work with RCS/Treatment team to present one clear decision/voice/standard to clients
  • Able to recognize need of client to process/have ability and openness to engage/know limitations of ability to process at present time
  • Appropriately communicate information/concerns from processing to therapist/treatment team
  • Using empathy, sensitivity, and being genuine during processing times
  • Being physically available for clients to approach you
  • Build rapport/trusting relationship with clients while maintaining professional boundaries
  • Able to follow emergency intervention for self- harm
  • Follow house rules/set example
  • Encourage/direct clients to attend/participate in daily programming
  • Complete weekly affirmations for clients
  • Be alert/aware during extended periods of down- time (clients sleeping, working on projects, etc.)
  • Attend/participate in groups while on shift
  • Drive clients to appointments/outings/meeting in company vehicles
  • Eat/incorporate mealtime training with clients during meals/snacks
  • Encourage clients during meals/snacks using behavioral intervention as needed
  • Work 2-3 major and minor holidays each year
  • Complete understanding of activity/band levels and associated client rules/expectations
  • General understanding of Nutritional philosophy, Body image issues, and typical ED behaviors
  • Document meal/snack/beverage completion
  • Complete time sheets daily/sign weekly
