About The Position

Recovery Advocate(s) I ensure the safety of and provide quality care to clients and their children. This position is responsible for maintaining the program schedule, program guidelines, and daily program activities, including the flexibility of moving between programs for coverage needs. OVERNIGHT SHIFTS have the responsibility of data entry into CMBHS per contract requirements. This position is responsible for creating a safe and healing environment for clients in line with the agency’s core values of respect, compassion, and integrity.

Requirements

  • Provide services in line with Nexus's core values.

  • Create educational & therapeutic schedule.
  • Provide thorough & detailed training to new staff.
  • Perform charge duties (scheduling, emergencies, etc.).
  • Perform urine collection & screenings.
  • Manage client behavior, manage crisis situations, and apply conflict resolution skills to situations.
  • Show sensitivity & work with people of various races, cultures, and socioeconomic levels.
  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with state & federal laws.
  • Practice safe driving practice.
  • The impact of trauma on clients served.
  • Compliance of dorm, agency, and HHSC policies and procedures.
  • Trauma informed care & responding appropriately to triggers and stressors.
  • Concepts of recovery, resilience, health & wellness.

  • Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret simple instructions, documents, and correspondence.

  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Experience with chemical dependency, trauma, and co-occurring disorders preferred.
  • Two years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide supervision for clients and children in a safe, therapeutic setting.
  • Ensure clients adhere to the daily program schedule in addition to providing scheduled group activities to clients.
  • Utilize and promote appropriate treatment models with all clients, including conducting interventions and providing support.
  • Observe and document relevant client information and behaviors, communicating these behaviors to the appropriate treatment professionals.
  • Document notes and other clinical information in database systems including CMBHS and Welligent.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in staff logs, incident reports, facility forms, and/or other reports.
  • Supervise clients in self-administration of medication & document the event in the client’s health record.
  • Complete medication inventory under the supervision of medical staff, as a backup to med room staff.
  • Manage crises; notify RAII, program director, counselors, etc. and complete appropriate documentation.
  • Communicate and escalate emergencies using appropriate reporting processes.
  • Perform various clerical tasks including filing, copying, updating forms & supplying them for client use, etc.
  • Perform random room searches and bed checks according to agency policy & procedures.
  • Perform client and property searches.
  • Attend treatment team & required staff meetings as required by management.
  • Attend all required staff training sessions (per Nexus, HHSC, & Joint Commission requirements), and complete all initial and annual training on time.
  • Conduct & document urine screenings.
  • Conduct routine facility checks to ensure facility safety & security and report any issues or concerns to facility team.
  • Check in/out client belongings on admission/discharge from Nexus, as required.
  • Monitor visitation for clients, families, and children.
  • Provide safe, timely, and supervised transportation of clients to off-site appointments or activities.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license throughout employment with Nexus.
  • Demonstrate regular and predictable attendance and punctuality.
  • Adhere to and promote Nexus’ mission and values, acting as a role model for others.
  • Assume lead duties for shift(s) as assigned.
  • Supervise the milieu management of shift(s), ensuring the promotion of a positive client experience.
  • Serve as a preceptor for new staff, including education & training for the program.
  • Serve as charge staff when assigned by supervisor and/or designee.
  • OTHER DUTIES WITHIN THE AGENCY MAY BE ASSIGNED.
