About The Position

Job Summary Performs functions within the Revenue Cycle departments to ensure records are requested when needed, received and filed correctly into electronic medical record within timeframe for patient referrals and care. Essential Functions All team members are expected to be knowledgeable and compliant with Prisma Health's purpose: Inspire health. Serve with compassion. Be the difference. Monitors upcoming patient appointments and assures medical record documentation is available at time of patient visit. Requests outside records, tracks these requests and ensures external records are received, scanned and indexed to the correct patient, document type, and encounter within the electronic medical record to assure availability for patient care. Supports hospital outpatient clinic locations with record retrieval and release of information to support continuity of patient care. Monitors referrals, outgoing and incoming records, routing to the correct location and/or indexing to the correct patient and location within the electronic medical record. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Education - High School diploma or equivalent OR post-high school diploma/highest degree earned
  • Experience - One (1) year clerical experience in a healthcare setting and/or experience with medical records (electronic and paper) preferred
  • In Lieu Of In lieu of the education and experience requirements noted above, an Associate degree in Health Information Management may be considered.
  • Required Certifications, Registrations, Licenses NA
  • Basic computer skills including word processing and data entry
  • Knowledge of office equipment (fax/copier)

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology preferred
