About The Position

As a Receptionist at Covenant House Texas, you will play a vital role in creating a welcoming environment for our youth, staff, and visitors. You will be the first point of contact for those entering the facility and will be responsible for managing front-desk activities, including answering phones, greeting youth, and providing general office support.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, administration, or related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in a receptionist or administrative support role preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Compassionate and youth-focused with the ability to interact with a diverse population.
  • Strong multitasking abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • May require occasional lifting of up to 15 pounds (e.g., office supplies, mail).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a social services, nonprofit, or healthcare environment is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Greet visitors and youth in a professional, courteous, and welcoming manner.
  • Ensure all visitors are logged into the visitor tracking system and directed to the appropriate department or staff member.
  • Answer, screen, and forward phone calls, ensuring messages are accurately relayed.
  • Maintain and manage the reception area, keeping it organized and clean.
  • Assist with general administrative tasks, such as filing, data entry, and maintaining office supplies.
  • Provide support for scheduling meetings and appointments as needed.
  • Assist with incoming and outgoing mail and packages.
  • Direct youth to the appropriate services or personnel as needed.
  • Answer questions about the organization’s programs and services, providing information or redirecting youth to the correct resources.
  • Provide compassionate and understanding assistance to youth in need, respecting confidentiality and privacy.
  • Maintain clear communication with staff, youth, and external partners.
  • Relay important messages to the appropriate department or individual in a timely manner.
  • Support special projects and events as needed.
  • Adhere to all organizational policies, including those related to youth privacy and confidentiality.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate and up-to-date records for visitors, youth, and staff.
