About The Position

Under the direct supervision of the Behavioral Health Executive Director, the Behavioral Health Receptionist performs receptionist and clerical duties while functioning as the focal communication source for the Behavioral Health Department. Assists with patient/staff needs as directed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED with medical and behavioral health training required.
  • Experience with Electronic Health Record and Electronic Patient Management Systems required.
  • Minimum one year of experience working in a medical front office required.
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills, which include proper grammar, spelling and punctuation.
  • Multi-line phone skills are required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) required.
  • Current and valid Oregon driver’s license in good standing is required with no insurability restrictions from the Tribe’s insurance carrier.
  • Required to accept the responsibility of a mandatory reporter of abuse and neglect of infants and children, people who are elderly or dependent, individuals with mental illness or development disabilities or residents of nursing homes and other health care facilities. This includes reporting any evidence of physical injury, neglect, sexual or emotional abuse or financial exploitation.
  • First Aid/CPR certification required or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology including ICD-10 and CPT codes desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Receives, greets, and directs visitors. Checks in patients, confirms registration, and processes intake paperwork.
  • Operates the phone system, triages and routes incoming calls to appropriate individuals and/or departments. Records messages and routes messages to appropriate staff.
  • Operates the electronic health management and record system to schedule/reschedule appointments and update patient charts and information.
  • Performs rooming of patients if necessary.
  • Maintains organization, security, and confidentiality of all medical records and client records.
  • Opens and closes the Ko-Kwel Wellness Behavioral Health Department according to established operating procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
