The state supported living centers serve people with intellectual and developmental disabilities who are medically fragile or who have behavioral problems. The centers provide campus-based direct services and supports at 13 centers located throughout the state. The Receptionist responds to all calls coming into the switchboard console and assists visitors of the State Supported Living Center. Usually, the first employee to meet and/or greet consumers or visitors of the State Supported Living Center. Performs routine work operating a telephone switchboard or console and performing receptionist duties. Work involves placing, answering, and transferring local and long-distance calls, receiving visitors, and providing general information. Ability to work harmoniously with individuals, their families, and staff. Works under moderate supervision with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. May be required to work extended hours until adequately relieved by on-coming switchboard employee; may be required to come in early from time to time to provide adequate switchboard coverage; may have to work alone; and fulfill and perform other job duties as assigned. Hours: Saturday/Sunday 8:00am-4:00pm; Monday – Friday 6am-2pm/2pm-10pm. May need to work some overtime and holidays. Shift may vary based on the needs of the facility.
