This position is responsible for: Operates the pantry/distribution area of the Social Services Department. Packages grocery bags and ensures that there is always a sufficient supply of filled bags ready for distribution to clients. Maintains inventory of canned goods, babu supplies, and baked goods. Answers the telephone in a courteous manner and directs calls to the appropriate destination; records accurate and complete messages when necessary; receives and receipts deliveries and donations; greets and announces visitors and clients; provides general information about The Salvation Army's operations and services; performs routine clerical work such as typing and filing. Key Responsibilities: Reads, understands, and follows Social Services policies pertaining to pantry services and areas of client condidentiality. Helps load and unload all pantry deliveries. Stocks supplies and pantry shelves. Keeps pantry, office, and storage areas clean. Receives , greets, and announces visitors in a courteous and tactful manner; provides assistance to callers and visitors by answering questions and providing instructions and referrals; screens sales representative soliciting to The Salvation Army. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language is required. Ability to lift and carry filled grocery bags and boxes of canned goods up to 50 lbs. Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and climbing. Working is performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather of discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
