About The Position

DIS-TRAN Packaged Substations is looking to hire a Factory-Built Substation (FBS) Technician to work from our Port of Alexandria Facility in our Warehouse Department. The FBS Technician is responsible for performing duties related to the shipping, receiving, marshaling, and warehousing of stock inventory and project specific jobs-in-process inventory. The FBS Technician is a member of the Project Support Services Department and reports directly to the Logistics Manager. The FBS Technician is expected to conduct all work with the highest quality and professionalism and with the understanding that this position represents the last in the Company’s process to touch the product / service before the customer receives it.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Read and understand measuring devices such as tape measure, rules, and combination squares.
  • Perform simple shop math (add/subtract fractions, decimals, and whole numbers).
  • Experience applying simple hand tools such as wrenches, hammer, screw driver etc.
  • Basic computer skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a Warehouse or Manufacturing environment.
  • Substation experience.
  • Experience pinning steel.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints.
  • Experience operating a Lift Truck and Man-lift.
  • Basic knowledge of how to assemble bus conductors both rigid and flexible.

Responsibilities

  • Performs tasks related to Project Services operations, included but not limited to: unloading of inbound trucks, receiving & inspecting materials, packaging / banding / bundling / wrapping of shipments, reeling / spooling cable, constructing wooden shipping crates, performing light manufacturing (drilling / cutting of aluminum and/or copper conductors), consolidating shipments by project and loading outbound trucks.
  • Attends safety meetings as requested / instructed.
  • Operates all machinery and equipment, including the Company’s forklift, in a safe manner always.
  • Communicates frequently with the Logistics and the Project Coordinators or Project Managers concerning material receiving / shipping issues, material damage and coordination of all inbound/outbound logistics.
  • Assist all Project Coordinators and Project Managers with the delivery of emergency products, recognize and share lessons learned (both good and bad) to all project coordinators and the company management and recognize and promote opportunities for quality and productivity improvements.
  • Keeps the Project Service Center property in order, including but not limited to: routine maintenance and grooming of grounds and facilities and regular and preventative maintenance on all Company equipment and machinery.
