About The Position

ABOUT US: Travis Association for the Blind/Austin Lighthouse (TAB) a non-profit organization, was founded in 1934 by Dr. Henry L. Hilgartner and other civic-minded citizens of Austin to provide a setting where blind men and women could come to learn skills and create products that were sold door to door. Today, Travis Association for the Blind stays true to the mission established in 1934 by providing opportunities for economic and personal independence for people who are blind, visually impaired, or deaf blind by creating, sustaining, and improving employment. Responsibilities · Supervise the warehouse specialists to ensure that warehousing tasks are being performed properly. · Performs a variety of warehousing duties which require an understanding of TAB's storage plan. · Verifies materials and/or merchandise against receiving documents, noting and reporting discrepancies and obvious damages. · Counts incoming stock for verification and after classification of the product. · Routes materials to prescribed storage locations; storing, stacking, or palletizing materials in accordance with prescribed storage methods. · Rearranges and takes inventory of stored materials. · Examines stored materials and reports deterioration and damage. · Removes material from storage racks and prepares it for shipment. · May operate hand or power trucks in performing warehousing duties. · Verifies that orders are accurately filled by comparing items and quantities of goods gathered for shipment against documents; ensuring that shipments are properly packaged, identified with shipping information, and loaded into transporting vehicles, and prepares and keeps records of goods shipped, e.g., manifests. · Verifies the correctness of incoming shipments by comparing items and quantities unloaded against bills of lading, invoices, manifests, storage receipts, or other records; checking for damaged goods; ensuring that goods are appropriately identified for routing to departments within the establishment; prepares and keeps records of goods received. Communicates key company and department policies, announcements, and general information to employees using a variety of methods, to include: 1-1's, Huddles, Staff Meetings, Paycom. Writes and delivers feedback from Quarterly Check-In's and annual Performance Reviews; ensures department attains on-time completion of all Check-Ins/Reviews Recognizes/rewards employees as appropriate. · Complies with and assists other employees understand and comply with TAB's Safety and Security policies and guidelines. · Behaves in accordance with the key behaviors aligned with TAB's Core Values of Leadership, Integrity, Growth & Innovation, Heart and Teamwork (LIGHT). · Other duties as assigned The above description reflects the details considered necessary to describe the principal functions of the job and should not be construed as a detailed description of all the work requirements that may be performed in the job.

  • The ability to navigate safely in small or large areas/environment.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, squat, adjust position for 40% of time
