About The Position

The Receiving Inspection Technician is responsible for ensuring all incoming materials and products meet quality standards before entering the production process. This role requires the ability to work to a high standard of safety and quality in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • 2–5 years of experience using measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, tape measures, etc.) to perform detailed inspections.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to self-pace work.
  • Ability to make sound decisions and effectively prioritize tasks.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills using structured methodologies such as NCR and 8D.
  • Experience with data collection and documentation.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of the organization, including management, engineering, production, clients, and suppliers.
  • Must act in the best interest of Vertiv when working with clients and suppliers.
  • Employment history consistent with Vertiv Internal Job Posting standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Quality-related certifications or training (Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, Calibration, Quality Technician training, etc.).
  • Trained Internal Auditor with experience auditing to internal and ISO standards.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a positive, progressive, and productive attitude toward plant targets and objectives related to reliability, accountability, safety, integrity, quality, and productivity as a unified goal.
  • Perform receiving inspections to ensure incoming materials, components, and products meet engineering specifications, quality standards, and purchase order requirements.
  • Utilize the NCR process and 8D methodology to drive quality into receiving and upstream processes, including but not limited to: Auditing incoming materials and documentation to identify non-conformances requiring corrective action.
  • Promptly initiating, prioritizing, managing, and closing NCRs related to supplier and incoming quality issues.
  • Escalating repeat non-conformances or higher-level supplier quality issues to Quality Engineering and Supplier Quality as needed.
  • Ensure only conforming material is released to production.
  • Identify opportunities to improve supplier quality and receiving inspection processes.
  • Work closely with engineering, production, safety, vendors, and suppliers to ensure product compliance.
  • Support initiatives to reduce Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ).
  • Assist Quality Engineering with root cause analysis and corrective action implementation related to supplier and incoming quality.
  • Update customer and supplier issue responses in customer portals and/or NCR systems to support effective communication and feedback.
