SUMMARY: A receiving clerk provides clerical assistance to our receiving department. This is a hands-on position involving various work assignments in a fast paced environment. This person must be willing to work in a team environment where they will be expected to think for themselves, offer ideas and suggestions, and develop programs to improve productivity in the department. The receiving clerk must also be able to work without constant supervision, take the initiative when needed to see the job through, and be able to discuss issues and corrections with the Team/Supervisor/Manager.

Requirements

  • Any combination of education, training and experience providing the following knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Degree or equivalent; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of Math, Word, Google programs is a plus!
  • Ability to read and interpret documents in English such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear.
  • Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Answer phone, write, type, or enter information into computer to prepare correspondence, statements, receipts, or other documents, copy information from one record to another.
  • Check in / Check out OTR Drivers.
  • Properly sort and file receiving paperwork.
  • Verify purchase orders versus bills of lading and correct discrepancies
  • Communicate effectively with receiving supervisors.
  • Photocopy documents.
  • Make adjustments in receiving systems to correct discrepancies
  • Monitor the inbound receiving appointments to assure accurate scheduling of inbound product.
  • Assign OTR Drivers to correct receiving door.
  • Properly audit dating information
