About The Position

Ever wonder how a garden center stays stocked with beautiful plants and supplies? It's not magic-it's Receiving Assistants like you! O'Toole's Garden Centers is looking for a Seasonal Receiving Assistant to help keep our inventory flowing smoothly during peak season. If you enjoy working behind the scenes, staying organized, and don't mind lifting the occasional bag of soil (or ten), we'd love to have you on board! In addition to receiving responsibilities, this role supports broader store operations by helping move products, set up displays, and maintain outdoor work areas during the busy spring season.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
At least 1 year of experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations
Ability (or willingness) to learn how to operate a forklift, pallet jack, and electronic pallet jack
Strong attention to detail
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Ability to stay on your feet for the entire shift
Weekend & peak seasonal availability
Basic computer skills for inventory tracking
Ability to read, write, and communicate in English for safety instructions, inventory documentation, and coordinating with vendors & teammates.

Nice To Haves

Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus

Responsibilities

Assist with receiving and unloading incoming shipments.
Verify shipments against invoices and report any discrepancies.
Maintain a clean and well-organized receiving area
Process damaged or missing inventory claims as needed.
Help keep product availability updated so the right departments stay in the loop.
Ensure proper handling of incoming plant products to keep them happy and healthy.
Coordinate receiving schedules with vendors to prevent bottlenecks and traffic jams.
Help with restocking, moving products, and making sure everything flows smoothly.
Assist with stocking soil, mulch, and other bulk bagged products, including jumping in to support the dirt line when things get busy.
Help set up and maintain outdoor plant display areas by moving pallets, cinder blocks, tables, and product displays so everything looks great for customers.
Assist with general store upkeep including sweeping, organizing outdoor areas, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
During peak periods you may jump in to support other departments, including basic customer service or cashier support when needed.
Work with team members across departments to keep operations running smoothly during high-volume seasonal periods.
This is a physically active role that involves frequent lifting, pushing, and moving heavier items like soil, plants, and display materials.
