A receiver handles the receiving of produce items in the backroom of the store and ensures that the shipments are inspected, sorted, and stored. The receiver also maintains what products need to be stocked on the shelves as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum one year experience working receiving
  • Grocery retail background preferred
  • Forklift certification or ability to obtain

Responsibilities

  • Greet and build rapport with vendors.
  • Display a friendly and outgoing attitude through good eye contact and body language.
  • Respond to employees'/customers' questions in an effective manner.
  • Receive shipments, examines and inspect all products for quality.
  • Fill orders by stocking items from the warehouse and stock shelves as needed with product from the warehouse.
  • Work with management team to coordinate and facilitate shipment placement.
  • Document all overages, damages, and shortage.
  • Communicate with truck delivery drivers on specific location for proper and safe delivery. Processing returns/credits for incorrect or unsatisfactory items.
  • Basic department cleaning upkeep.
  • Use handheld technology for scanning items.
  • Follow safety and sanitation procedures to ensure quality service and products for our customers.
  • Operate power equipment to move heavy material like fork trucks and/or pallet jacks. Baler use may be required but only if you are 18 years of age or older with the proper training.
  • Respond promptly and courteously to customer needs.
  • May perform other duties as assigned or required.
