About The Position

Under supervision of the Recreation Program Coordinator, supervises and leads the activities for Fun & Fitness summer camp program.

Requirements

• Special training or experience in leading sports and games, swimming, and arts and crafts activities for children ages 3 to 9 years
• Personal skills in the leadership of several broad types of recreational activities
• Applicant must be at least 16 years of age by June 15, 2019
• Knowledge of: The problems involved in the leadership of several broad types of recreation activities
• Ability to: Read, write, speak, understand, or communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of the position
• Ability to: promote and organize recreation programs
• Ability to: give individualized instruction to participants
• Ability to: enforce safety precautions and give first aid in the event of a mishap
• Ability to: establish and maintain good working relationships with participants, associates, and the public
• Ability to: swim
• Ability to: obtain CPR and First Aid certification

Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes, implements, and leads a variety of recreational activities in the areas of sports and games, swimming, and arts and crafts
• Supervises and leads the activities on special trips such as a children's theater production or Cape May County Zoo
• Reports to the Recreation Program Coordinator on activities, plans, and problems
• Recommends action, and carries out policies in dealing with specific groups
• Oversees the use of equipment and supplies
• Cleans up after activities
