About The Position

NYC Department of Finance (DOF) is responsible for administering the tax revenue laws of the city fairly, efficiently, and transparently to instill public confidence and encourage compliance while providing exceptional customer service. DOF's Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Office ensures compliance with federal, state, and city EEO policies and human rights laws prohibiting workplace discrimination by implementing the agency's EEO reasonable accommodation, complaint, and investigation procedures, as well as New York City mandated and optional EEO based trainings. The EEO Officer Unit is seeking a Reasonable Accommodations Coordinator to perform work involving investigation and analysis of issues of fact and questions relating to Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Human Rights law and New York City EEO policies, requiring degrees of independent initiative and judgment, to ensure that all persons, with or without disabilities, can fully participate in all programs, services and activities associated with and provided by the Department of Finance. Reporting to the EEO Officer, the selected candidate’s duties and responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

Requirements

  • 1. A master's degree from an accredited college in special education, rehabilitation, counseling, psychology, social sciences or a related field and one year of satisfactory full-time professional experience in a related area; or
  • 2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and three years of experience as described in "1" above.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the management and implementation of the agency's Disability Program.
  • Develop, coordinate, and implement policy, procedures and practices governing the operations of all programs, services, and activities, to ensure that all people, with or without disabilities, can fully participate in such programs.
  • Manage and process requests for reasonable accommodation.
  • Conduct and process intake interviews on investigations of EEO complaints and alleged discrimination.
  • Draft concise detailed investigative reports, request for reasonable accommodation determinations, and various EEO related written correspondence.
  • Develop metrics to evaluate and monitor the effectiveness of strategies and policies.
  • Research, collect and analyze data on program and strategy effectiveness and trends.
  • Work with agency operating divisions to develop appropriate procedures for providing services to people with disabilities.
