About The Position

Process requests associated with county real property; provide information about county real property rights to county residents, county departments, private engineers, land surveyors and developers; review, route, and process license, vacation, and quitclaim requests, water and sewer exceptions, private utility company request for easements on county property; route plats to appropriate county departments; review subdivision and site plans for license requests; perform land title research; prepare deeds, easement agreements, license agreements, ordinances, quitclaim deeds; prepare Board of Supervisors agenda items; record executed documents with the Circuit Court; and utilize and maintain data in county GIS and data systems. Perform other work as required.This position is part of an approved Career Development Plan (CDP) and offers career progression opportunities and salary incentives, as funding permits, based on performance, qualifications, and experience.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED; college coursework in civil engineering, real estate law, land surveying or related fields preferred
  • Two years of experience in real estate law, civil engineering or a related field to include experience with the transfer of real property, deeds, legal research and land title examining; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with colleagues, Government officials and the general public
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Ability to interpret information and present it to others.
  • Current valid driver's license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out of state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at time of interview. Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date.
  • Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.
