About The Position

The role will support a wide range of legal matters related to the Company’s shopping center portfolio, with a primary emphasis on and leasing-related matters. This position will work closely with senior legal team members, internal business partners, and external counsel on leasing, and other legal matters. This role reports to Assistant General Counsel and is based in the office, 5 days a week.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and active bar admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
  • Approximately 2-5+ years of relevant commercial real estate legal experience; retail or shopping center lease negotiation experience preferred.
  • Strong drafting skills with the ability to prepare and review complex legal documents.
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to interpret and apply contract provisions.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with internal teams and external counsel.
  • A client services mindset to manage expectations and deliver high quality work product
  • High degree of professionalism, judgment, and integrity.

  • Exposure to entitlements, construction and development matters helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal counsel on leasing matters, as well as a variety of related legal matters.
  • Draft and negotiate a variety of real estate documents, including leases, lease amendments, lease assignments, non-disclosure agreements, SNDAs, listing agreements, easement agreements, landlord lien subordination agreements, access agreements, and license agreements.
  • Conduct thorough title and survey reviews for real estate leases, amendments, letters of intent, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and identifying potential issues.
  • Support the maintenance of internal research and abstraction materials.
  • Support property management and asset management on legal matters as needed.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned or directed.
  • Manage outside counsel within budgetary guidelines.
  • Provide legal guidance on additional corporate or operational matters as needed.
