About The Position

Full-time, ten month position serving Middle School students as a Reading Specialist. This position is a fully benefited position. Individuals without a current license may be considered, pending acceptable credentials and pursuit of a teaching license. ESSENTIAL TASKS/JOB FUNCTIONS: (These are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position.) Direct Instruction of Students – will provide direct instruction in the areas of Reading and Writing for identified groups and individual students Identify literature for use in all content areas in support of the curriculum Provide curriculum support and training for all teachers and continuous staff development that support school division initiatives Collaborate with and coach teachers on the use of assessment data to plan instruction; analyze school literacy data and plan for future literacy needs Provide ongoing training and follow-up in the use of assessment tools Participate in collaborative instructional planning Assess students using a variety of measures to determine appropriate placement and specific instructional needs Participate in parent meetings, IEP meetings, etc. to provide instruction suggestions Work collaboratively with the building administration to review data to develop and assist in building level professional development Perform other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS: Must possess a Master’s Degree and be eligible for a Virginia Teaching License with an endorsement as a Reading Specialist Have at least three years of successful classroom teaching experience Have experience in lesson planning and curriculum development Have experience and expertise in using technology in education, including the use of Google Drive for Instruction, collaboration, and course work Have effective written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal skills Demonstrate the ability to work effectively with teachers, parents/families, and administrative staff Demonstrate the ability to be dependable and punctual PAGE COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS conforms to all the laws, statutes, and regulations concerning equal employment opportunities and affirmative action. Requirements
