Reading Interventionist - Highland Park High School Topeka USD 501 • www.topekapublicschools.net Reports to: Principal Purpose: Provides remedial instruction to students who need additional instruction in reading.

Requirements

  • Meet requirements of a Kansas Teaching License
  • Knowledge of the Common Core Standards- intervention strategies- assessments- and intervention resources
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students- school personnel- and parents
  • Speaking- hearing- visual- reading- writing- word processing- mobility- consistency of temperament- ability to problem solve and work in stress providing environments.

Responsibilities

  • Support core instruction- both remote and in person- for literacy learning
  • Deliver and use assessment results to diagnose areas of deficiency and make instructional decisions that address students' weaknesses
  • Use research-based strategies that meet students' learning needs and support core instruction
  • Coordinate planning and communicate students' performance with teachers- literacy coach- principal- and curriculum coordinator
  • Use district-approved instructional resources- which includes both primary and supplemental resources
  • Monitor and maintain accurate records for reporting student progress to teachers and parents
  • Assist in the assigning and scheduling of students
