About The Position

Description of Basic Functions and Responsibilities : To assist a kindergarten teacher to achieve teaching objectives by working with individual students or small groups to help them achieve the skill levels of the class as a whole. Typical Duties: Deliver specialized instruction to small groups of students as guided by school staff and teacher Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher Assists the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on a sympathetic understanding of individual students, their needs, interests and abilities Guides independent study, enrichment work and remedial work set up and assigned by the teacher Assists with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods and field trips Reads to students, listens to students read, and participates in other forms of oral communications with students Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of fully licensed teachers Participates in in-service training program, as assigned Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of English usage, vocabulary, grammar and spelling
  • Give oral and written direction
  • Ability to speak, read, and write in English
  • Ability to compute basic math calculations
  • Have 48 college units or an AA degree or higher
