About The Position

Reading Aide - Part Time Location: Race Brook School, 107 Grannis Rd, Orange, CT Qualifications: Strong work ethic Strong communication skills Oral and/or written references from colleagues and/or supervisors testifying to the candidate’s qualifications A Bachelor’s Degree and/or some post-high school education (Preferred) Requirements: It is essential that reading aides have demonstrated experiences: working with children (preferably in an educational setting) connecting with students collaborating with colleagues (preferably in an educational setting) adhering to student and staff privacy and confidentiality policies learning new techniques In addition, it is critical that reading aides are willing to: embrace new learning opportunities regarding district reading initiatives: Scientific-based reading instruction Social-emotional learning (to develop critical relationships with students) accept feedback provide small group scientifically research-based reading instruction to students requiring Tier 2 instruction Responsibilities: Collaborate with the school’s reading team: principal, reading consultant, reading specialist, reading aide colleagues, and classroom teachers to: Plan classroom programming for students receiving Tier 1 and Tier 2 services Monitor progress of students receiving Tier 2 services Support teachers and students with computer-based reading programs and assessments (Lexia, STAR, DIBELS) Support small group classroom reading instruction Term/Duration : Workdays follow the Orange Public Schools Student Calendar for a minimum of 5 hours per workday. Upon an evaluation that meets expectations, this will be a recurring yearly position. Salary: The 2025/26 hourly starting rate is $19.66 Application Process: To complete an online application.
