About The Position

The Registered Dental Assistant - Business Office Manager provides oversight and coordination of all dental operations including supervising clerical staff in patient registrations, scheduling appointments, collections, and medical records and also supervising clinical personnel in patient care, patient flow and equipment maintenance.

Requirements

  • Must have previous dental business office experience.
  • Associate degree or Bachelor’s degree is desirable. (Two years of related office experience may be substituted for one year of college.)
  • Must have an active Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) License with Sealant Certification.
  • Three years' progressive responsibility in health care, with two years' experience direct supervision.
  • Must maintain a current Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification, in compliance with corporate CPR policy.
  • A working knowledge of RVS, ADA, and Denti-Cal coding.
  • Proficient in knowledge of Medi-Cal, Access Dental, Safeguard and insurance billing and collections.
  • Thorough working knowledge of business English, spelling, punctuation, and contemporary general office practices and procedures
  • A working knowledge of Medi-Cal, Medicare and other state insurance billing and collections.
  • Fluency in English (speak, read and write).
  • Fluency in Spanish (speak, translate, read and write) is required.
  • Math skills sufficient to prepare routine spreadsheets, calculate/balance invoices/expense reports, calculate income for patient eligibility purposes and similar.
  • Excellent leadership skills.
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, etc.), electronic health record systems, and database systems.
  • Typing/data entry skills sufficient to meet production requirements.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills to communicate clearly and effectively with patients and others.

  • Effective oral communications skills including public speaking experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to listen and communicate with others in a professional and caring manner including sensitivity with individuals from diverse cultures and lifestyles.
  • Effective work organization skills with demonstrated ability to set priorities for tasks to work effectively in spite of interruptions and under minimal supervision.
  • Self-starter, reliable and dependable with good time management skills.
  • Ability to be flexible and work variable schedule of 40 hours/week, between 8 a.m. - 9 p.m. Monday to Saturday within a changing environment. Occasionally, the work day may not always be an 8hr day.
  • Ability to solve problems and make routine recommendations.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team player.
  • Sensitivity to the different cultures represented among members and staff.
  • Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality about health care and other patient/client information.
  • Current California driver’s license, appropriate insurance coverage and a driving record acceptable to the NEVHC’s insurance carrier (if required to drive on the job).
