Description Primary Duties and Responsibilities Performs all respiratory care modalities in the treatment of pulmonary disease and disorders, adhering to all department and hospital required license(s), certifications, regulatory agency requirements. Performs bedside diagnostic tests and assessments to evaluate the extent of pulmonary dysfunction. Manages and monitors mechanical ventilation and artificial airways. Participates in cardiac arrest/respiratory arrest code situations and assists with intubation. Maintains a working knowledge of department standard operating procedures, including the use of specialized instrumentation, Quality Control requirements, and preventive maintenance. This includes the knowledge of specialized equipment and related computer systems. Projects an image of professionalism in communication, appearance and conduct. Supports the department mission. Participates in the continuous quality improvement process. Position may require travel between various Hoag Hospital (Hoag) locations and its affiliates. Performs other duties as assigned. Participates in the continuous quality improvement process. Position requires travel to patient homes for respiratory therapy visits. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education and Experience Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited Respiratory Care program required. Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Care, Health Services Management, or related studies preferred. Previous experience as an RCP practicing in the acute care patient setting preferred. License Required Current license to practice respiratory care issued by the Respiratory Care Board of California (RCP) Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential verified and granted by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC), must remain current for the entire term of employment License Preferred N/A Certifications Required Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification granted by the American Heart Association Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) granted by the American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Department certification in arterial puncture, arterial blood gas analysis, and performance of ECGs Certifications Preferred Adult Critical Care Specialist (ACCS), Neonatal Pediatric Specialist (NPS), Certified or Registered Pulmonary Function Testing (CPFT or RPFT) STABLE Certification
