About The Position

The Resident Care Associate provides for the needs of elders, including personal care, therapeutic programming, safety, and emotional support, while upholding the dignity, independence, choice, and individuality of each resident. This role involves delivering services as outlined in each resident's approved service plan.

Requirements

  • Ability to use computer for documenting services provided.
  • Fluent in the ability to communicate in the English language, both oral and written.
  • Must have completed the course for certified nursing assistant or have equivalent training or experience as required by State Regulation.
  • CPR and First Aide training as mandated by the State employed.
  • Current license/certification as required by State Regulation and provide copies of the documentation to the Resident Care Director or designee.
  • Demonstrates computer literacy and familiarity with office software, including but not limited to word processing or demonstrate the ability to learn data input.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience providing direct care or the equivalent in training preferred.
  • Experience in caring for seniors with Alzheimer's disease or other forms of Dementia is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Promote the mission and core values of the Residence and LCB Senior Living to residents, visitors, co- workers and the surrounding community.
  • Have an active role in growing community occupancy by representing and interacting positively with potential residents, family members and professionals.
  • Successfully complete the community's and any State orientation training program prior to being assigned regular duties.
  • Assist residents with medications according to State Regulation and LCB Policies, making the required record entries at appropriate times, and making the appropriate notifications to the nurse concerning self- administered medications (as specified by state regulations).
  • Actively engage residents in meaningful interactions and experiences. Provide assistance, encouragement, and restorative interventions, as needed, for residents to be as independent as possible in their activities of daily living including and not limited to: bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, assist in dining, and mobility. Take initiative in engaging in group and individual engagement.
  • Monitor for changes in resident needs, preferences and health status. Report/document any noticed changes at once to the RN or designee.
  • Assist Residents with clothing and laundry needs as per the service plan.
  • Assist Residents in going to bed at night, when necessary.
  • Assist Residents with keeping their units neat, clean and orderly.
  • Answer emergency calls and attend to the Residents needs promptly.
  • Participate in the community's regularly scheduled on-going in-service training programs. Upon request of the Resident Care Director, participate in specialized staff training programs, and mandatory education requirements dictated by State Regulation.
  • Assist with escorting residents to meals and engagement as needed or directed.
  • Document both scheduled and unscheduled service that are provided, including incidents, behaviors, and out of the ordinary events, including a residents refusal of services. Input information in to the community computer tracking system regarding services provided to residents.
  • Conduct and facilitate programming, including therapeutic groups and individual interaction, that offer cognitive stimulation, socialization, physical activity and spiritual connection.
  • Perform other duties as requested.
