About The Position

PACCAR Electronics is seeking a talented and motivated engineering student to join our Summer 2026 Internship Program as a Rapid Prototyping Intern . Job Overview As a Rapid Prototyping Intern, you will support the development, testing, and documentation of embedded software, hardware, and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) systems used across PACCAR’s powertrain, digital display, and vehicle management technologies. You will collaborate with a global engineering community across Kenworth, Peterbilt, and DAF, while working onsite at the PACCAR Technical Center. Your contributions will directly impact on the performance and reliability of embedded systems used across PACCAR’s commercial vehicle lineup. Requirements

  • Third or fourth year of bachelor’s degree completed (graduation date 2026 – 2027) in one of the following STEM disciplines: Engineering (Mechatronics, Electrical, Software, Computer, Mechanical), Science, or a related STEM discipline.
  • Strong independence, motivation, analytical skills, and written communication abilities, with sound engineering judgment.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team, with strong organizational and time‑management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and document HIL electrical systems and control algorithms using dSPACE hardware, MATLAB/Simulink (model‑based development), and Microsoft Visio.
  • Support Rapid Control Prototyping (RCP) activities to develop embedded software solutions using tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, GIT, Java, C++, Embedded Linux, Python, C#, and Kanzi for UX/UI design.
  • Update and refine technical specifications for digital displays and embedded vehicle software based on evolving requirements.
  • Collect data and evaluate system performance using electrical engineering lab equipment for embedded software verification and validation.
  • Troubleshoot issues and conduct root‑cause analyses, documenting defects and driving resolution.
  • Build collaborative, professional working relationships grounded in integrity, respect, and trust.
