About The Position
The Ranch Assistant position is primarily responsible for assisting the Ranch Manager/Ranch Foreman implement the diversified operational plan consistent with the Choctaw Nation Agriculture Department’s overarching mission and strategic plan.
Requirements
- Experience or knowledge of fence construction/repair, basic plumbing, excavation, road maintenance, brush control, hay/pasture management, etc.)
- Good listening skills and has the ability to safely perform all duties
- Knowledge of livestock care, stockmanship, and husbandry
Responsibilities
- Monitor and provide supplemental feed, mineral and water to all livestock.
- Assist with herd health, routine processing, calf pairing and transport activities.
- Identify unhealthy animals, when necessary, administer approved treatment program.
- Monitor forage availability and assist grazing management/utilization efforts.
- Perform routine (ex. chemical, mechanical and prescribed fire) pasture maintenance.
- Provide property upkeep including fence repair/construction, mowing, trimming, litter removal, painting, etc.) and security.
- Operate farm equipment including tractor, skid steer, chute, vehicles, etc. safely and respectfully.
- Maintain Cattletime database for CNO Ranches.
- Provides data and reports to management.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned.
