About The Position

POSITION OVERVIEW: As a Rail Safety Director at LJA Infrastructure, the Director oversees all aspects of rail safety, including risk management, regulatory compliance, incident prevention, and safety culture. This role works closely with operations, engineering, maintenance, and regulatory agencies to ensure safe and efficient rail system performance.

Requirements

  • 8–15+ years of experience in rail, transportation, or heavy infrastructure safety
  • Strong knowledge of FRA regulations and rail industry standards
  • Experience leading safety programs and teams
  • Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills

Nice To Haves

  • Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) highly preferred
  • Education preferred, but relevant experience will be considered

Responsibilities

  • Consult, coordinate, and review with clients on highway/rail projects to enhance public safety.
  • Lead and manage the organization’s rail safety program and policies
  • Ensure compliance with regulations from agencies like the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)
  • Develop safety procedures, training programs, and emergency response plans
  • Conduct risk assessments, audits, and safety inspections
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses; implement corrective actions
  • Analyze safety data and trends to reduce hazards and improve performance
  • Promote a strong safety culture across all departments
  • Coordinate with government agencies, contractors, and internal leadership
  • Oversee compliance documentation, reporting, and safety certifications
