About The Position

General Purpose Operate radiographic equipment to produce clinical diagnostic x-ray films as directed by Physicians and perform routine diagnostic procedures according to established standards and practices. Responsible for the efficient and effective processing of patients through the clerical and clinical areas of the practice/clinic. Under the general direction of the physician or advanced practice provider, provides high quality, compassionate patient care.

Requirements

  • Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography
  • Six months X-Ray experience
  • Associate degree in Radiologic Technology
  • Graduate of an accredited program in radiologic technology
  • Demonstrate positioning skills
  • Knowledge of radiation protection as assembled in ALARA
  • Able to demonstrate the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients serviced in his/her assigned service area as related to principle duties and responsibilities of the position.
  • Demonstrates a positive team attitude and has interpersonal skills to effectively and appropriately communicate with clients, their families, providers and co-workers.
  • Ability to work in an EMR environment
  • Must be cross trained to work both clerically and clinically when not performing X-Rays.
  • Demonstrates ability to use a keyboard as may be required to perform the essential duties of the job.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with EMR preferred
  • Ambulatory x-ray experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patient and adjust equipment for taking x-rays.
  • Position and instruct patient regarding procedures.
  • Take x-ray images of specified body parts as ordered, following established procedures.
  • Use immobilization devices in accordance with standard practice.
  • Lead protective devices to protect parts of the body not in the central ray and to reduce exposure to radiation.
  • Automatic radiation shielding (collimators) at all times.
  • Observe sterile technique and universal precautions when applicable.
  • Process films and use proper identification techniques so as to assure proper labeling.
  • Log patient technical factors and pertinent information in RIS.
  • Maintain established department policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control.
  • Assist in daily care and maintenance of Urgent Care facilities, equipment, and supplies, including but not limited to stocking, ordering linen, putting away supplies, checking supply expiration dates, etc.
  • Keep work areas clean.
  • Attend in-service meetings and other meetings as required
  • Prepares patient for examination.
  • Obtains vital signs and chief complaint.
  • Appropriately documents information obtained.
  • Performs laboratory and diagnostic testing.
  • Answers, screens and triages telephone calls.
  • Takes accurate messages and distributes to the appropriate personnel within the guidelines of the practice.
  • Maintains practice standards by participating in in-services, committees, etc.
  • May assist in developing and implementing quality control and practice policies.
  • Inventories, orders and restocks areas as necessary.
  • Ability to provide clerical services and clinical services as required to maintain an effective practice flow.
  • Cross trained to work both clerically and clinically when not performing X-Rays.
