The Radiological Technologist role at St. Francis Downtown is for a certified health professional who, under the direction of an authorized user, applies diagnostic imaging skills through the safe and effective use of ionizing radiation. Requirements

  • Certification and Registration with ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) in Diagnostic Radiology
  • State Licensure (unless required by the state where the job is being performed)
  • BLS Basic Life Support, American Heart Association (required at hire for Roper St Francis Healthcare locations; required prior to independent patient care at BSMH)

Nice To Haves

  • Associates from an ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) accredited institute
  • 1 year experience in radiation safety and patient care
  • Experience with Radiology Information System
  • EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) training
  • Picture archiving communication system (PACS) training

Responsibilities

  • Obtains patient's clinical history and appropriate lab work ensuring information is documented and available for use by a licensed practitioner.
  • Positions and immobilizes patient to best demonstrate anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability and comfort.
  • Applies principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to patient, self, and others.
  • Performs radiographic procedures by selecting and operating imaging equipment, and/or associated accessories to successfully perform procedures.
  • Verifies informed consent and completes pre and post procedure documentation.
  • Assists licensed practitioner with fluoroscopic and specialized radiography procedures. Applies appropriate aseptic surgical technique as needed.
  • Performs timeout as required per policy.
  • Identifies, prepares and/or administers medications/contrast as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
