Under the supervision of surgeons, registered nurses, or other surgical personnel, performs radiographic procedures to assist in a diagnosis of disease and injuries. The staffing of the Center is based on a teamwork concept. Employees may be cross trained in other clinical areas and may be expected to perform duties other than their normal ones as staffing and patient needs change. Adhering to principles of Universal Precautions. Principles of Aseptic technique. Performs radiographic examinations and procedures as prescribed by a physician utilizing proper technique. Monitors and reports radiation safety issues to the Center’s Radiation Safety Officer. Maintains and safeguards films, prints, and records for each patient. Contacts contract radiologist when film needs reading. Assist with patient positioning. Assists with room turnover. Assists with operation and general maintenance of radiologic supplies and equipment. Documents concisely, precisely, and accurately on all records as indicated by policy. Assures patient and personal safety by maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment and adhering to center staff, safety and health programs. Develops and maintains an effective working relationship with patients, families, visitors and other health care team members. Seeks guidance and validation when situations arise which exceed the employee’s capabilities. Maintains and increases standards of performance and education. Participates in quality assessment activities as directed for the continuous improvement of patient care. Cross-train as an Instrument Technician and may be required to assume and perform said duties.
