The Radiology Technologist performs radiologic examinations, including portables, C-arms, fluoroscopic, urological, and special procedure examinations under the direction of the Supervisor, Imaging Services. This role involves comprehensive patient care and technical duties, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in all procedures. Key responsibilities include greeting patients, reviewing requests, evaluating orders, verifying patient identifiers, and clearly explaining procedures. The technologist is responsible for preparing and positioning patients, determining and applying proper techniques for examinations, and taking correct views. They must safely and efficiently operate various imaging equipment such as CR, Fluoro, and DR rooms, CR readers, and printers, as well as manage image transfer to PACS, scan documents, and route images, including changing priority to "STAT" or "URGENT" when necessary. The position also requires assisting Radiologists during fluoroscopic and special procedures, moving portable radiographic equipment across different hospital departments (Emergency Dept., Operating Room, PACU, Nursing departments), and maintaining sterile technique when required. Administering IV and Oral contrast media, documenting patient symptoms and history in PACS, maintaining a clean work area, and adhering to ALARA radiation safety standards are also critical. Additionally, the technologist provides customer service, performs clerical duties like monitoring workflow with PACS, Image release, and CD burner, assists with office functions, and performs tasks during off shifts. They also comply with quality assurance duties and instruct radiology students.
