About The Position

This position is contingent on contract award. The Radiology Technician performs chest radiography and other radiographic studies supported by the facility’s equipment and contract model to support medical intake screening, infectious disease evaluation, and ongoing patient care requirements. The role supports timely tuberculosis screening follow-up, safe operation of radiographic services, maintenance of required radiologic protections and dosimetry controls, and coordination with credentialed radiologists and licensed health care providers in accordance with contract requirements and applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, codes, and policies.

Requirements

  • Current National Certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (AART).
  • Must have and maintain an unrestricted and current license as a Radiology Technician issued by the state of Texas or the ability to obtain one.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Graduate from a certificate or associate degree Radiologic Technologist program accredited by The Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT).

  • Required to walk unaided at a normal pace for up to 5 minutes and maintain balance.

  • Required to perform CPR/emergency care standing or kneeling.
  • Must have the ability to assist sick, injured, or aging patients or staff exiting the building (may require lifting, dragging, wheeling, or carrying someone who weighs significantly more than self).
  • Must be able to see, hear and smell with aids if necessary.
  • Must be able to lift, push, or carry 30 pounds.
  • Must perform the duties of my job in a stressful and often austere environment without physical limitations.
  • Sitting and/or standing for extended periods of time.
  • Average manual dexterity for computer operation.
  • Phone or computer use for extended periods of time.
  • Must maintain current/physical residency in the continental U.S.
  • Pass a medical examination conducted by a licensed physician within 30 days prior to initial assignment.
  • U.S. citizen and have resided in the U.S. for the last five years (unless abroad on official U.S. government duty).
  • Successfully engage in and complete a thorough Background Investigation.
  • Poses or have ability to obtain required security clearances.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a detention/correctional or residential healthcare setting preferred.
  • Verbal and written proficiency in Spanish (preferred, not required).
  • Proficiency in Spanish is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform chest radiography for tuberculosis screening follow-up when patients have a positive tuberculosis infection test and no symptoms suggestive of tuberculosis disease, within the contract-required timeframe.
  • Perform chest radiography only as a trained and qualified health care provider when the site has radiography capability.
  • Support radiographic services in the medical intake screening area and chest x-ray area with adequate radiologic protections.
  • Perform other x-rays as appropriate to the facility’s clinical care capability and equipment.
  • Coordinate with a credentialed radiologist for interpretation of radiographs.
  • Promptly communicate completed imaging studies to the ordering licensed health care provider in support of patient evaluation and treatment.
  • Apply radiation safety practices and required radiologic protections during all imaging activities.
  • Maintain required dosimetry practices and comply with any federal or state mandated radiology certification requirements applicable to the site.
  • Assist the service provider in complying with third-party claim processes for reimbursable follow-up chest x-rays when radiology services are provided on-site or off-site.
  • Maintain imaging-related documentation, records, and workflow support consistent with contract processes and applicable privacy requirements.
  • Support medical intake screening operations and infectious disease screening processes as assigned within scope of training and qualification.
  • Comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, codes, guidelines, and policies, including Occupational Safety and Health Administration requirements where applicable.
  • Participate in required initial and ongoing training, emergency procedures training, and quality control activities applicable to radiology services.
  • Support safe, secure, and humane patient care operations in coordination with facility medical staff and other authorized stakeholders.
  • Perform other radiology-related duties within the scope of contract requirements, site capability, and assigned qualifications.
  • Complete required organizational compliance education, including assigned requirements that are client-specified, for Joint Commission Healthcare Staffing Services certification or other regulatory bodies.
