About The Position

A Radiology Technician performs various imaging procedures in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. This role involves reviewing patient history and physician's orders, educating patients about procedures, equipment, and exams to ensure understanding and cooperation. The technician prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within their scope of practice when ordered, and continually monitors patient condition, reporting and responding to changes as appropriate. They are responsible for preparing equipment and supplies, selecting appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters, and implementing safety standards while performing quality control procedures on equipment. The technician troubleshoots, resolves, or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary, positions patients, and performs imaging procedures. They also analyze results, identify issues with image quality, take appropriate action to resolve these issues (including repositioning and repeating procedures), and are responsible for entering, transmitting, and reporting scan results.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a Program in Discipline required or validated by current licensure
  • AART within 6 months of hire
  • Current American Heart Association BLS certification or obtained within 90 days of hire date.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Language Skills: Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews patient history and physician's orders.
  • Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation.
  • When ordered, prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice.
  • Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate Prepares equipment and supplies.
  • Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters.
  • Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment.
  • Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary.
  • Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s).
  • Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results.
  • Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure.
  • Enters, transmits and reports scan results
