Radiology Technical Assistant - Breast Imaging Services

About The Position

To provide quality care to patients undergoing imaging procedures. The Radiology Technology Assistant must also demonstrate full knowledge of the imaging procedures within their assigned modality. The Radiology Technical Assistant will adhere to all applicable safety policies. They will work under the direction of the Modality Technologist, Modality Lead or Supervisor, and Imaging Manager. This position is primarily for performing Dexa scans on patients. Other duties include scanning paperwork, scrubbing schedules, completing exams, and various other clerical tasks as needed for the Breast Imaging Department.

Requirements

High school graduate or GED or equivalent years of education, experience and/or training.
BLS CPR Certification.
Progressively demonstrates the skills and competencies necessary to safely perform the assigned job, determined through on-going skills, competency assessments, and performance evaluations.
Adapts to multiple ongoing priorities with minimal supervision including organizing workflow and actively participating in problem-solving.
Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing the English language necessary to perform the essential functions of this job, especially with regards to activities impacting patient or employee safety or security.

Strong Customer Service skills and attention to detail required
Experience in a patient care or Radiology environment is a plus.

Responsibilities

Assists in preparing room for radiologic procedures by ensuring required supplies are available.
Assists with patient flow within assigned modality setting.
Responsible for transportation of patients using patient bed, stretcher, or wheelchair as necessary.
Provides comfort measures to patient.
Prepares and assists patients undergoing examinations, and procedures to include patient positioning.
Stocks rooms, carts, cabinets, linen etc. as assigned or requested Demonstrates competence in IV establishment and maintenance.
Provides and maintains a clean, safe imaging suite and performs and/or assists others to perform proper aseptic technique, isolation procedures and infection control measures.
Recognizes patient care priorities and manage unexpected or emergent situations.
Checks equipment and supplies for expiration dates, electrical safety tags, intactness, and usability.
Reports equipment and supplies needing replaced or repaired.
Consistently model AIDET principles.
Consistently communicates in a professional and courteous manner.
Demonstrates acceptable productivity and practices cost containment.
Prioritizes and completes all work in an effective and efficient manner.
