About The Position

Performs routine radiographs, CT, mammography and Bone Density procedures on inpatients, outpatients, surgical and emergency room patients. Assists with clerical duties. Follows established standards and practices. Assists physicians as requested. Essential Function: Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, environmental and infection control standards, and hospital policies including compliance policies. Performs imaging exams on inpatients, outpatients, surgical and emergency room patient using stationary and portable equipment. Assists physician and ER Nurse with diagnosis testing for medical and trauma emergencies. Maintains, cleans, and sterilizes equipment. Performs radiologic procedures in accordance to established procedural guidelines to assure accuracy. Responsible for protection and quality minimizing unnecessary exposure to patients and personnel. Maintains patient documentation and that patient records are treated as confidential information. Adheres to the policies and procedures regarding HIPAA Guidelines. Demonstrates proficiency in performance standards and skills required of a Radiologic Technologist. Assists radiologist and prepares medical records needed for interpretation. Prepares and administers oral and IV contrast for imaging studies. Maintains department appearance for cleanliness and infection control. Requests and orders supplies as necessary to keep materials on hand at all times. Demonstrated the ability to competently care for patients of all ages to include neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations. Must have knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care for patients in this age range, able to assess data and interpret appropriate information relating to their age-specific needs. Responds to Trauma Codes. Transports patients. Takes call according to monthly schedule after the closing of the regular department hours. Compiles and maintains quality assurance information for mammography, in accordance with and ACR, State of Iowa Department of Health Standards, the FDA and the Department of Health and Human Services. Assists in office and clerical duties as requested including filing, phone messages, call reports, and customer service. Satisfactorily qualifies for the position through an Iowa Criminal History/Dependent Adult Abuse check within the limits of applicable laws. Requirements

  • Graduation from an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology, either college or hospital affiliate registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certified by the State of Iowa to practice and administer radiation.
