Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of one year experience in customer service, preferably six month’s receptionist experience in healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge of reception tasks, clinic policies/procedures, paperwork.
  • Knowledge of how to use office equipment and computer systems
  • Knowledge of customer service concepts and techniques.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in person and on the phone and establish/maintain cooperative relationships with patients, families, physicians, staff, and other customers.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instructions
  • Must be able to lift 20 pounds and push and pull several hundred pounds.
  • This position requires sitting and standing for long periods of time.

Responsibilities

  • Greets customers in a polite, prompt, helpful manner and provides any necessary instructions.
  • Completes necessary paperwork, use of computer system to generate information necessary for registering patients, taking payments, and communicating with staff.
  • Updates patient information, provides any necessary forms needing completion, and obtains signatures as necessary.
  • Maintains clean, orderly work area and waiting area.
  • Answers phones in a pleasant manner and deals with customer needs expeditiously.
  • Print daily schedules, fee tickets, reports, etc.
  • Must be competent with clinic computer system.
  • Research problems promptly.
  • Export imaging studies to a disc for the patient to pick-up or mail to referring doctor.
  • Must be able to differentiate between exams and give proper preps, as well as schedule adequate time for exams.
