Responsible for providing services that include management of images including retrieval, locating patient information, documenting image releases, and uploading and burning CDs. Essential Functions Consistently demonstrates commitment to customer service as well as behavior that enhances the image of the department and organization. Triages all incoming calls and forwards calls to appropriate department and personnel. Creates CD’s, copies, and mails imaging documents. Documents imaging exams for clinics, physicians, attorneys, and other authorized requestors while preserving the confidentiality of patient information in accordance with privacy laws (HIPPA) and facility policies and procedures. Assists patients/families with completing authorization forms as necessary. Responds to all requests for patient health information made by email, phone or in person. Processes all stat requests for copies of images utilizing cloud sharing platforms and PACS. Responds to customer and all image requests in a timely manner. Acts as area liaison communicating effectively and appropriately with patients, parents, visitors, clinicians, and physicians. Uses the Hospital Electronic Health Record (EHR) and PACS to locate patient information, record and document image releases, log and return outside images, resolve exceptions, imports and exports images from outside facilities, and other automated workflow tasks. Uses the hospital electronic cloud sharing system to receive and share images with outside facilities. Requests new connections with outside facilities via the electronic cloud-based system. Utilizes PACS to detach exams or images that are incorrectly filed. Coordinates consultations requested between providers and radiologists. Frequently requires the reading and communication of the radiologist’s dictation to physician offices. Assists with training of new employees as requested. Legacy Essential Functions Schedules patients according to established procedures when the reception area is not staffed by Registration. Ensures that necessary information is recorded. Processes necessary papers prior to patient examination. Assists in training of new employees as requested. Communicates effectively by phone, fax, e-mail, notes or preferably with face to face contact.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or Certificate of General Educational Development (GED) or High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED) required or relevant experience
  • Ability to read and write legibly, assemble various forms and images, understand detailed instructions, communicate with physicians, and perform other clerical functions as directed.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills required to appropriately greet and interact in person and telephonically with patients, parents, staff, physicians, and other outside customers.
  • Medical terminology and good knowledge of basic anatomy required to interact with medical personnel.
  • Intermediate computer skills required to utilize sophisticated information technology systems.
  • Analytical ability to perform comparisons between numbers and letters to accurately complete data entry into the EHR, PACS, and the electronic cloud-based system.
  • Prioritize workload to promote continuity of care while demonstrating the ability to work independently in a multi-tasking environment.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail.
  • Must possess the maturity, communication skills and etiquette to triage service requests in an efficient and effect manner.
  • Must be proficient at film digitization and CD burning functions associated with the PACS.
