Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• One year clerical experience, preferably medical, and/or equivalent applicable experience.
• Knowledge of standard office and administrative procedures and basic office equipment, as well as medical terminology is required.
• Basic data entry and word processing skills required.
• Oral and written communication skills sufficient to provide routine information, greet visitors, answer inquiries, and refer calls.

Nice To Haves

• Nurse's Aide training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assumes responsibility for designated areas or procedures as required.
• Performs clerical and secretarial duties and adhering to file management policies and procedures of the healthcare facility.
• Maintains strict confidentiality according to healthcare organization and regulatory agency requirements, such as Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
• Works with computer-based document retrieval system of a healthcare facility to locate, print and deliver document and images as requested.
• Assists with answering telephones, filing, photocopying, image management, faxing, sorting mail, distributing reports, etc.
• May assist with patient needs.
• Some in this role will maintain schedules and/or make appointments for the department.
